Workers is Cloudflare's edge function runtime: code executes in V8 isolates (the same engine as Chrome), not Node.js, in 300+ datacenters worldwide. Each request gets its own isolate, so startup takes about 0 ms, with no cold start like Lambda's.

Its limits are 10 ms of CPU time (free) or 30 s (paid), no filesystem and limited Node.js API compatibility.

It supports JavaScript, TypeScript, Rust (via WASM) and Python.

Workers can access D1, R2, KV and the other Cloudflare services through bindings declared in wrangler.toml.
