Security is the protection of a system against attack, and in a blockchain it combines cryptographic guarantees with operational practice.

Security is the protection of a system against attack, and in a blockchain it combines cryptographic guarantees with operational practice.

Exposing RPC to the internet without restrictions leaves an open door for denial-of-service attacks: even without private keys, an attacker can spam zero-cost transactions to fill the blocks of a private network. The defense comes in layers, with CORS restrictions, selective port mapping and the separation of the validator and RPC roles, which is minimum privilege, the most impactful single principle for deploying nodes.

The same principle organises security in clouds and connected plants. Every identity, human or machine, is defined and limited by IAM, and a Zero Trust design checks each request against identity and policy instead of trusting whatever is already inside the network.
