web dev//SDK

An SDK is a library that wraps an API and makes talking to a service easier: instead of `fetch('https://supabase.co/rest/v1/contacts')`, the code says `supabase.from('contacts').select()`. It puts the HTTP requests into typed functions, for mobile apps, Node.js servers, Python scripts or any other platform.

Helpers (like @supabase/ssr) are framework-specific extras on top of an SDK. The Supabase SDK is generic TypeScript, while the SSR helpers are specifically for Next.js and manage the session cookies between browser and server; without them, that cookie logic has to be written by hand.

A browser tab is an SDK for people who do not code.

It gives them a visual layer over the same operations an SDK performs with functions: the user has permissions and touches their Supabase data (RLS protected) as an SDK would, with clicks instead of code.
