The whole setup is one call with the URL and the publishable key, createClient(SUPABASE_URL, SUPABASE_ANON_KEY). The SDK is platform-agnostic and works in the browser, on a Node.js server, in React Native and in Flutter.
Databasesupabase.from('contacts').select() instead of fetch('https://xxx.supabase.co/rest/v1/contacts'), with typed filters, joins, inserts and updates
Authsupabase.auth.signInWithOAuth({ provider: 'google' }) triggers the Auth flow, one line to start the whole OAuth chain
Real-timesupabase.channel('changes').on('postgres_changes', ...) subscribes to live database updates through WebSockets
The SDK is generic, and the helpers are framework glue: @supabase/ssr is the Next.js-specific layer on top, which manages cookies and server-side session handling while the SDK talks to Supabase.
