A direct deploy is a deploy run by hand with a CLI command, without going through a CI/CD pipeline, and it is used to push a change to production from the terminal in one step. `wrangler pages deploy dist`, for example, pushes a built site to Cloudflare directly from the terminal, with no GitHub, no pipeline and no waiting.

It is instant and simple and needs no CI/CD setup, but it runs no automated tests, leaves no audit trail and depends on the state of the developer's machine. It can coexist with CI/CD: direct deploys for quick iterations, CI/CD for production releases.
A personal note26 · mar 10Read notewrangler pages deploy dist. that's the whole deploy. no git push, no CI, no yaml files. 300 edge locations. this is just better.
