blockchain//wallet//derivation path

A derivation path is the string that names which key a wallet derives from its seed, so that one seed can regenerate the same accounts deterministically; it is what makes an HD wallet recoverable from its seed phrase alone. In the BIP-44 standard it reads `m/44'/60'/0'/0/x`, where `x` is the account index. `44` is the BIP-44 purpose, `60` the Ethereum coin type (Bitcoin is 0), `0` the default account group and `x` the address index.

The path ensures that Bitcoin and Ethereum keys never overlap, even from the same seed. The Add Account button in Metamask simply increments x (0, then 1, then 2, and so on), so the key regenerates deterministically, with no new randomness.
