What are the two bands a Neuropixels channel records, and at what rates? · Lobeworks/17
The spike band (AP), 0.3 to 10 kHz, sampled at 30 kHz, and the local field band (LFP), 0.5 to 500 Hz, sampled at 2.5 kHz, both at 10 bits.

The spike band (AP), 0.3 to 10 kHz, sampled at 30 kHz, and the local field band (LFP), 0.5 to 500 Hz, sampled at 2.5 kHz, both at 10 bits. Spikes last about a millisecond and carry content up to about 10 kHz, so they need the fast rate; the LFP is slow summed synaptic current and would waste data at 30 kHz. Each rate sits above twice its band's top frequency, as Nyquist requires.
